First Call for Help

All volunteer roles within First Call for Help are essential to its success and deeply valued. Opportunities are flexible in both hours per month and time of day—First Call for Help operates 24/7/365, making it easy for volunteers to find a schedule that fits their availability.

The agency is grateful for every volunteer’s consideration and invites community members to explore the positions below and consider joining the First Call for Help team.

Resource Locator
Resource Locators help identify, verify, and update community resource information assigned by the Data Curator. This role uses structured templates and a guided questionnaire, making the work straightforward. It is well-suited for individuals who are detail-oriented and strong communicators. Remote or on-site options available.

Outreach & Marketing
Volunteers in this role represent First Call for Help at community events, distribute materials, and engage with the public. This position is ideal for those who are comfortable interacting with diverse groups and passionate about the agency’s mission. On-site and community-based opportunities available.

Facility Maintenance
Facility Maintenance volunteers assist with small repairs, routine checks, and general upkeep to help keep the building safe and welcoming. Tasks may include light fixes, problem-solving, safety checks, or lawn care. On-site only.

Building Housekeeping
Housekeeping volunteers support the cleanliness and organization of the facility through dusting, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, window care, and general tidying of public spaces. Their work ensures every guest enters a clean and well-cared-for environment. On-site only.

Special Projects
Special Projects volunteers assist with occasional initiatives such as mass mailings, sewing or building projects, and community partnership events. These tasks vary throughout the year and are great for those who enjoy variety.

Other Skills
Community members with unique skills are encouraged to share them with the agency. First Call for Help will keep this information on file and reach out when a project aligns with the volunteer’s talents.
