Grand Rapids Area Library Friends Board Membership Lead

Do you love the Library and want to positively impact the community?

The Grand Rapids Area Library (GRAL) Friends are seeking a board member to focus on Membership.

This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the development of a website with QR code and electronic payment capabilities, updating the GRAL Friends member contact list, and managing an annual membership campaign mailing.

 

Who are the GRAL Friends?

We are an award-winning non-profit organization whose mission is to support the needs, improvements, and programs of the Library - and serve as a strong voice for the Library in the community.


What do the GRAL Friends do?

FUNDRAISING: We manage a Used Book Store and host book sales and other events

SUPPORT THE LIBRARY: We donate funds for children's and teen's programs, prizes, projects, and collections. We purchase furniture, fixtures, and subscription services for the Library. We support annual staff and volunteer appreciation events - and so much more!

 

What is the time commitment?

We meet semi-monthly as a board. Subcommittees may meet more frequently.

 

What do we do at meetings?

  • Discuss book sales and other fundraising opportunities, management of local Little Free Libraries, GRAL Friends finances, and other GRAL Friends business
  • Receive updates on Library business
  • Evaluate Library funding requests

Ideal candidates are Library patrons with a passion for impacting the community. Those with experience in or enthusiasm for membership-building campaigns, communication strategies, and comfort with using internet platforms are preferred.
