Monthly Adoption Event Assistant

Each second saturday of the month, Great Tails Animal Rescue has adoption events at their office location at the Central Square Mall in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. These events are meant to showcase adoptable animals, as well as give an opportunity for pre-approved applicants to meet multiple adoptable animals at one time.

We need at least six volunteers to help out during these events. Job duties include, but are not limited to, assisting interested visitors with greeting and meeting animals, cleaning litterboxes, filling water and food dishes, cleaning out kennels, assisting adoption coordinators with processing adoption applications, holding animals, bringing dogs out for potty breaks, etc.

The event runs from 10:00 am -2:00 pm, with pre-approved applicants allowed to visit animals one hour before we open to the public at 11:00 am. Volunteers are expected to arrive before we allow pre-approved applicants in to meet animals, and to stay after the event to help clean up (roughly 9:30 am to 2:30 pm). Volunteers are allowed a lunch break as long as they communicate to the other volunteers that they are doing so. New volunteers will be paired with an experienced volunteer to be trained in the various job duties.

Volunteers for this event must be a volunteer on the GTAR roster. If you are not yet a volunteer with GTAR, please submit an application on our website. You pass a background check and provide two references.
