Collect Essential Items

Each November, United Way of 1000 Lakes hosts an annual Home for Good drive to collect home and personal essentials items to help children and adults with basic needs. With the current economic landscape, even more people are finding that they need to make tough choices – buying laundry detergent and having food for breakfast, or filling the car up with gas and buying a pair of shoes. Necessities provided through our personal care drive can help relieve some of the burden.

Volunteers can assemle their own essential packs following the instruction guide, purchase items from the list below and deliver them to a drop box location, or they can provide monetary support by making a donation.

Much needed items include laundry detergent, garbage bags, facial tissues, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, menstrual products, new washcloths, hand and bath towels.

Donated items will be assembled into care packages and distributed to children, veterans, elderly, homeless and vulnerable populations throughout United Way’s service area of Itasca County and surrounding communities.
