Education Advocate

Are you interested in education and social justice?  Are you an experienced teacher or citizen who wants to give back to your community?  The Itasca County Jail needs you!

 

The Itasca County Sherrif's Department is looking for skilled individuals or groups to volunteer their time to teach inmates important skills to support positive changes in their lives. 

 

Focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Anger management
  • Art
  • Cognitive thinking
  • Creative writing
  • GED readiness
  • Job readiness 
  • Knitting
  • Money management
  • Native American programming
  • Parenting classes
  • Vetran support
  • Yoga

The county is also open to your ideas for class suggestions or additional skills to enhance positive growth.  Help equip individuals who are incarcerated with essential abilities that contribute to their personal development and reintegration into society.  To share your insight, skills, and inspire others, inquire below!
