Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation Board Member
Do you love the Library and want to positively impact the community? The Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation is seeking additional board members beginning in 2024, for a four-year term.
What is the Library Foundation? We support the Library and foster a love of reading in the community.
What is the time commitment? We meet four times a year as a board, with occasional opportunities to meet as a team to volunteer in the community.
What do we do at meetings? We oversee endowment funds, approve Library donation requests and community projects, receive Library updates from the Director, and discuss area partnerships.
How does the Foundation impact the community? We underwrite Children's Library programming, such as Online Storytime, Summer Celebration, and Book Time. We provide funding to enhance Library material collections and furnish functional community meeting spaces. We collaborate with other area organizations to support interactive public art and learning environments for families, like McCarty Park and the StoryWalk.
Join the Library Foundation Board: Preferred candidates are Library patrons with a passion for impacting the community. Experience in or enthusiasm for fundraising, awareness-building campaigns, and/or previous board leadership are welcome.
